The Pearl Piccolo PFP-165E has a Grenadilla wood headjoint and a Grenaditte body. Grenaditte is a material with excellent sound qualities and it is impervious to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. There are two different bulb design headjoints available with this piccolo, the "High Wave" (PFP-165E) or the "Straight Style" (PFP-165ES) headjoint. The Straight Style headjoint provides more resistance compared to the High Wave headjoint.

All the 165-series piccolos are provided with Omnipads. The advantage of Omnipads compared to regular fish skin pads is that they are impervious to moisture. These durable synthetic pads also produce a rich sound.

French pointed arms belong to the basic design as well as a Pinless Mechanism and the One-Piece Core-Bar construction.
